Preparing an assessment roll covering all the taxable real estate and personal property within the Township is the chief function of the Assessor’s Office. Charged with this responsibility by the State’s General Property Tax Law, Act 206, the office must create and maintain a record of market and assessed values for all classes of property such as residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and developmental.
Construction of all types (residential, commercial, industrial) are reviewed and the Assessor’s Office is constantly busy with assessing new construction, creating and/or updating records and answering the multitude of inquiries by phone and in person. Explaining and assisting residents through the assessing process is the mission of the Assessor’s Office staff. Any resident needing assistance with Principal Residence Exemption Applications, Property Transfer Affidavits, Change of Addresses, Personal Property Statements and Boards of Review Appeals should contact this office.
For 2010 the Consumers Price Index or CPI will be a factor of .997.
This means that for the first time we will have a decrease in Taxable Value.
